The first summer school devoted to Serious Games for Health and Sport from the Harvard Medical School, ENTI-UB and EUSES will take place at the beginning of July. This year there will be three courses on offer: the Serious Games for Health course (standard): July 3rd and 4th; the Serious Games for Health course (advanced): July 6th and 7t, and the Serious Games for Sport course: on July 5th only. You will therefore have the opportunity to acquire an overall vision of the world of health care, incorporating the health aspect applied to sport. But what is the most suitable professional profile for attending these three courses?
In the case of the Serious Games for Health course, both standard and advanced, these are mainly aimed at: health professionals: doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, chiropodists, social workers, psychologists, etc.; health care administration executives and heads of information management; professionals in the field of health promotion; government bodies: public health; non-profit associations devoted to promoting health; gamification managers, health related start-ups/business incubators and entrepreneurs.
By means of these two courses, professionals in the health sector will be able to gain a broad perspective on how new technologies are not just the future, but very much the present in the exponential growth that the health sector can experience with the emergence of the new ICTS. They will also have the opportunity to acquire criteria on the functioning of a sector that will permeate the entire health workplace over the coming years. In addition, this cutting-edge training will allow them to anticipate the technological change that the field of health will experience, taught by the best professionals: Dr Yuri Quintana and Dr Oscar Garcia Pañella of the Harvard Medical School and the School of New Interactive Technologies (Escola de Noves Tecnologies Interactives – ENTI-UB) respectively.
Serious Games, also applied to sport
In contrast, the course on Serious Games for Sport is aimed at: physical education teachers, professional trainers, physical trainers, etc., i.e. sport professionals; executives, heads of information management, sport managers and other members of the sports authorities; professionals in the field of promoting physical activity and sports; government organisations devoted to sport, non-profit organisations and associations devoted to promoting physical activity and sports, among others.
Thus, for the people who are engaged in the field of sport, in the broadest sense of the word, this course will also allow them to understand the exponential growth that this sector can experience thanks to the emergence of Serious Games for Sports and new technologies. All together this will allow them to improve sport approaches in assisting athletes, as well as gaining real time statistics about behaviour based on different activities, amongs many other aspects.
